A: As I was being deported to Italy, when I saw scores of fans gathered to give me a fond farewell, I knew that greed would always drive confidence crazes as the crowds would rush to become a part of the wealth created in their neighborhood.
Q: How do you feel about the extent of Mr. Madoff's Ponzi scam?
A: I feel humbled that the last name of a poor Italian immigrant has become part of the English language. But I fear that people may start calling it a Madoff scam from now on! I have yet to appreciate how Mr. Madoff has managed to continue his scam for decades, mine could go on only for months. He sure must have inspired confidence. And the exclusivity of his club must have made 'investors' feel special when Madoff granted them the opportunity to join in...
